So named because it starts on the feast of St. Andrew, the St. Andrew Christmas Novena is a beautiful, simple, Advent prayer, focusing on that singular, beautiful moment when Christ was born. In this short prayer, repeated 15 times each day until Christmas, we ask God with hope and confidence to grant our most heartfelt longings on this occasion when His greatest gift, Christ our Redeemer, came into the world.
It is piously believed that whoever recites the below prayer fifteen times a day from the feast of St. Andrew the Apostle (Patron of Scotland; November 30) until Christmas will obtain what is asked. Canada Needs Our Lady also believes it’s pleasing and efficacious any time of the year.
Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of a most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in the piercing cold.
In that hour vouchsafe, O my God! to hear my prayers and grant my desires through the merits of Our Savior Jesus Christ and His most Blessed Mother.
Amen
